VAT201 Determination & Submission

VAT201 Determination & Submission

Within your VAT 201 filing card, you will find the Determinations tab.

When you click on the Determinations tab, you will see the following:

The Company Information, Output tax, Input tax and Diesel Refund (where applicable) screens are a replica of the VAT 201 form found on eFiling.

Company Information Screen

This contains all the general company and user information required for a submission to SARS.

The Vendor Details are automatically completed, by pulling the information from SARS (once your integration to SARS eFiling is established).

The Contact Details are related to the user whose eFiling credentials have been integrated in the SARS integration process. This information is pulled from the Users section within Konsise.

The Voluntary Disclosure and Tax Practitioner Details are as per every standard VAT201 submission, and needs to be completed (if applicable) prior to Submission.

Output, Input tax and Diesel Refund

The layout of the Output VAT, Input VAT and Diesel Refund pages are identical to that of a SARS submission form.

To enter values for submission, click on the field you would like to edit and capture the related value. Click Enter to Save.

Once the values are entered, the VAT is automatically calculated.

Summary

All values entered are pulled through to the Summary tab. Here you can do one final overall review of your VAT return for the month, prior to submission.

Save and Lock

Once a user has completed the return and inputted the relevant information in the Company Information, Output VAT and Input VAT tabs, they can click on the “Save and Lock” button. A pop-up will appear and they can click Save:

All the tabs will be locked for editing once saved and locked. No users will be able to edit any of the submissions while in this state:

If a user would like to edit any of the values once saved and locked, they would need to click the “Unlock” button. Either the Preparer or Reviewer can Unlock the Determinations tab:

The following pop up will appear:

Once unlocked, both Preparer and Reviewer can edit the values on the VAT201 tabs.

Submission to SARS

Submission to SARS occurs by clicking the Submit to SARS button that appears on the Summary tab.

This button is only available for the user who’s eFiling profile has been integrated to Konsise. For all other user roles on that card, the Submit to SARS button will be greyed out.

Please ensure that the return is in a Saved and Locked state before clicking the Submit to SARS button. If you attempt to submit before clicking Save and Lock, you will see the following message:

Permissions for Save and Lock

The Save and Lock button is available to the Preparer and Reviewer of the VAT 201 filing.

Once the return is completed and ready for submission, click the Submit to SARS button. The first screen that will pop up is a validation screen. If any information for a successful submission is missing, a message will appear on the validation, for example:

Once all the relevant information for a successful submission is completed, you will see the following pop-up:

If you would like to change anything on your return, click “Back to VAT201”. If not, proceed with your submission by clicking “Yes, I am ready to submit to SARS”. This will take you to the Confirmation of Values screen:

This screen is a final Summary of your submission and shows all the information that will be submitted to eFiling. Once satisfied that all the information is accurate, please click the checkbox at the bottom of the pop-up:

Once the submission is complete, you will see the following message:

Once you submit through Konsise, the return is marked as Queued, to be processed at 6pm each evening.  Only after the submission is processed can you submit payment for the return.

Submitting on the last day of the month

As submissions are processed after 6pm, it is advised that all submissions on the last day be done through eFiling. This is to ensure that you have sufficient time to process payment before the bank cut off time, to avoid penalties.
